Way to Live

A Vision for Community

The way TerraBella has been planned is known interchangeably as “Traditional Neighborhood Development” and “New Urbanism.” The principles behind it are time-tested, and are why our favorite cities and towns are still great places today.

A Traditional

neighborhood

“We became intrigued with the concept of a Traditional Neighborhood Development, which has the perks of city life and the pace of living in a small town.”

- TerraBella Resident

The idea behind Traditional Neighborhood Development is to artfully mix homes, shops, businesses, theaters, schools, parks and other important civic services within close proximity to each other at the heart of the community, to encourage walking, neighborly interaction and a strong sense of community.

As you walk from the center out, homesites get larger, setbacks get deeper and streetscapes get a bit wider, so the transition from the built environment to the natural environment is gradual, and you’re still never more than an 8-minute walk to the Town Square.

More than 185 acres of nature have been preserved as woodlands, wetlands and open space, and nature has been incorporated into the design of the entire community through parks, hedgerows, and tree canopies.

our team

TerraBella was initially designed by the visionary town planner Steve Oubre, and is being developed under the leadership of Boh Bros. Construction Company.

Boh Bros. Construction Company

Boh Bros. looks back with pride at the road it has traveled from a small homebuilder in New Orleans to one of the largest multifunctional construction companies in the region. The key to Boh Bros.’ success has been a corporate culture of innovation and absolute commitment to quality that has been passed down from its founders through generations of dedicated employees. Its workforce is composed of talented, skilled and competent craftsmen at all levels, with experience and longevity that exceeds that of other companies in the industry.

Steve Oubre, Town Planner

A town planner and architect, Oubre has practiced architecture since 1976 and co-founded his own company, ASW Architects, in 1980. The firm specializes in urbanist development in cultural architecture, and in educational and campus planning. His work throughout the Gulf South has received design recognition at the local, regional, and national levels. His current focus is on urbanist projects in Louisiana (most notably, The Village of River Ranch in Lafayette), Mississippi, Texas and Arkansas.
